Poor Sleep and Hormones
Hormonal changes and imbalances can spoil a good night's sleep. Our team works with primary care physicians and endocrinologists to help you sleep soundly.
Women often report not getting enough sleep at night or being sleepy during the day. When hormone levels spike or drop during the menstrual cycle, during and after pregnancy, and around menopause, women are more vulnerable to sleep problems. Insomnia can be resolved after estrogen and progesterone levels are normalized and good sleep habits are practiced. Untreated insomnia can lead to sleep apnea, obesity, anxiety, depression, and chronic fatigue.
Men often report low energy, low sex drive, fatigue, poor concentration, and decreased strength. Sleep disturbance caused by sleep apnea is linked to Low T. Treating sleep apnea can return testosterone to normal levels.
Disorders of testosterone, thyroid hormone, cortisol, and growth hormone can all cause sleep disorders. Sleep is essential to good health. Talk to our specialist or your doctor if you have hormonal concerns.
